SPIRIT is immediate preparation for a particular sacrament rooted in ritual, prayer, faith sharing, mentorship, reflection and liturgy. It is a process of conversion – or
metanoia. Our Lady of Fatima provides,
once a year, a spiritual preparation for the celebration of the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. All individuals who fulfill the basic requirements set down by Canon (Church) Law and Diocesan regulations and feel they are
spiritually open and ready are welcome.
First Eucharist: Children who are age 7 or older and who have been
actively participating in GIFT for one full year may begin to prepare for the sacraments of
Reconciliation and Eucharist. A commitment by parent(s) and children to attend
all preparation sessions and GIFT sessions is required.
Confirmation: takes place in the Spring of every year, with sacramental preparation for the next Confirmation beginning in the Fall of 2018 and open to all in 10th grade or above who have been
active participants in GIFT for at least one year prior. A commitment by Confirmation Candidates, and their parent(s) or a significant adult mentor to attend all preparation sessions and GIFT sessions is required.
