The Knights of Columbus
… is an organization of dedicated individuals – over 1.8 million members strong, and growing. An organization that, since 1882, has embodied the selflessness of man as it has helped overcome the problems of the world. Poverty. Ignorance. Apathy. Things which impact all of humanity.
… are men of faith, comprising over 14,000 Knights of Columbus Councils in North and Central America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. Guided not only by our belief in God and the Catholic Church, but by our belief in each other, and in ourselves.
…believe that a man is defined by his actions as a follower of God, and as a leader in his community. Believing that a man is more than simply a man, when he bears the title of “Knight”.
Active In Our Community
The Knights of Columbus, Council 12637, has been supporting the Wynantskill area since 2000. As a Fraternal Brotherhood of Catholic Men, we strive to follow the founding principles of: Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. We do so through our sponsorship and participation in many charitable events and programs, as well as by supporting St. Jude the Apostle parish in Wynantskill and the efforts of our Bishop in the Greater Albany Diocese as a whole such as:
Look for the “guys in green shirts” doing good in the community!
Become a Knight!
Please join us! We meet the first Monday of each month for 1 hour at the St Jude the Apostle School in Wynantskill. All activities are optional and members are invited to help as time permits. For more information, please contact Derrick Rumenapp at: drumenapp@nycap.rr.com
Our History
Guided by four core principles – charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism – these founding members worked to overcome the hardships of the time. Poverty. Unemployment. Even persecution.
Father McGivney’s perseverance and foresight have resulted in the largest Catholic fraternal and humanitarian organization ever created. An organization that has endured for over a century because of the inspirational courage of so many.
