Our Hearts Aflame Eucharistic Congress is being held on Saturday, September 22 at the Shrine of the North American Martyrs in Auriesville. Need a ride to the Eucharistic Congress? Or just want to avoid the traffic? St. Madeleine Sophie Church is sponsoring complementary bus transportation to and from the Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs for the Eucharistic Congress on September 22. Bus leaves SMS parking lot at 7:15am in order to arrive in time for Registration and will leave Auriesville at the conclusion of the day at 3:00pm. Please be sure to register for the day online and then contact Kelly Sloan at St. Madeleine Sophie School to reserve a seat on the bus. Drive Thru - Wagon Train Chicken BBQ at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 210 Princetown Rd., Schenectady: Friday, September 28th 4 PM—6 PM or until sold out. $10 per person. Dinner includes 1/2 barbeque chicken, potato, corn bread, cole slaw. The Drive-Through Pick Up line [located in the Church parking lot] will open at 4 pm. You won’t even have to get out of your vehicle to take your chicken dinner home. We will be selling tickets after all weekend masses or the day of the event. The Christ Child Society invites YOU to their Annual Baby Layette Shower and Membership Luncheon to be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, October 6th at the St. Madeleine Sophie Parish Center. The price of admission to the luncheon is a baby item for our Layette Program. Each year the Albany Chapter of the Christ Child Society distributes about 500 layettes to less fortunate babies in our community. A layette contains a crib blanket, afghan, or quilt, sweater set, 2 receiving blankets, 4 undershirts, a hooded towel, sleeper, disposable diapers, socks, & baby book. The National Shrine of St. Kateri Tekakwitha in Fonda, NY is very excited to be celebrating its 80th Anniversary. Holy Hour for Life will take place on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 PM at St. Gabriel Church. Services will include exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, silent adoration, novena prayers for Life, Rosary and will conclude with solemn Benediction of the Holy Eucharist.
A men’s prayer group will meet downstairs at St. Madeleine Sophie’s Faith Formation Building at 7 pm on the first Wednesday of each month. During this meeting, the men engage in an open and forthright discussion about life, our Catholic faith and communal prayer. All men are invited and welcome to attend. Moderator is Father Leo Markert.
The Good Neighbor Program provides clothing care packages to local school aged children in need to help them feel confident and comfortable to face the school day. We accept gently used or new clothing for boys and girls in all sizes. We also always appreciate donations of new socks and underwear.
