RE: Lynn O’Rourke
Our love and prayers go to Bob O’Rourke and his family as they grieve the loss of our Parish Life Director Lynn O’Rourke. She was such a woman of faith and had fought a brave battle with pancreatic cancer for seven years. This fact never stopped her from doing for others – including bringing ashes and communion to cancer patients at St. Peter’s while she was receiving her own treatment, visiting the elderly members of our parish, having an interest in school accomplishments of our parish youth and serving in a variety of ministerial roles notwithstanding the soft spot she had for the poor and disadvantaged.
Her husband Bob was her constant companion to the end as she left this world and went to God on April 1 at 6PM. Bob beautifully stated on facebook, “I was there with her when she left and God was waiting when she arrived. While I miss seeing her here, I share her joy in finally being cancer free and being where she always wanted to be. Even though she is no longer here, she will always be with me. She and I send out love to all of you.”
Her obituary is listed at William J. Burke & Sons funeral home website: https://www.burkefuneralhome.com The family requests for those who wish, memorial donations can be made in her name to Duanesburgh Volunteer Ambulance Service, 130 Cole Rd, Delanson, NY, 12053 or Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY, 12308.
A memorial service will also be held at OLF. Date and arrangements are still pending.
